River Rock Dry Goods
River Rock Dry Goods started many years ago, subconsciously.
I have been a constant thrifter/junker/picker since I was young because I love old things, unique pieces, and quality clothing that aren't costly. As I moved through the years I started saving and collecting vintage and modern items that I LOVED and were made to last. A lot weren't my size, many weren't my style but I felt like I had to save them for other people in my life. I ended up with bins of clothing and home goods, too much to keep to myself. Due to this, River Rock was born and has become the outlet of spreading items I love with others, hoping they love them just as much as I do.
I like to find meaning and joy in the small things. So as I named this business I thought about the ever changing world of fashion, much like the ebb and flow of a river, and the permanence of textiles that are produced, like a rock. Hence, River Rock. We are here to pick up textiles that need to be rehoused as changes arise. Our bodies change, our styles change, WE change, and that is beautiful. As these changes come we need clothing that fits. All of these pieces have a story, and I think a lot of vintage items have stories to be told. I find it beautiful that I'm able to love, wear, and use something that has a rich history.
I also believe that we need to be adopting more sustainable practices and not purchase as much new clothing, especially avoiding items that are fast fashion. I love mending clothes and up-cycling items to give them a second life. You will find clothing items that were stained, torn, and on the cusp of being given up on that are now gorgeous pieces ready to find a new home.
I want to make sure that our Dry Goods stay reasonably priced and accessible. To do this, not all items we sell were on their last thread. Having pieces that require less time to mend, soak, and tag allow us to keep prices lower for the time being. We are passionate about saving pieces that need repairs or they are trashed - however, any used item that is being purchased is a step in the right direction!
